Street Works Renewal Assessment


Candidates will undertake a classroom-based, multiple-choice assessment on each of the units that they hold on their expiring Street Works card (up to 16 units for a full Operative/Supervisor card). This course can be sat with us up to six months before the expiry date and four months after the expiry date of your existing Street Works card.

What will you learn

Upon successful completion of assessments, candidates will be competent and
qualified in the following areas:


  • Excavation in the Road/Highway (*101, 102, 103)
  • Excavation, Backfilling and Reinstatement – Cold Lay (*101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106)
  • Reinstatement Hot and Cold Lay Bituminous Materials (*101, 102, 106, 107)
  • Reinstatement of Concrete Slabs (*101, 102, 108)
  • Reinstatement of Modular Surfaces and Concrete Footways (*101, 102, 109)


  • Excavation in the Road/Highway (*101, 110, 111)
  • Monitoring Excavation, Backfilling and Reinstatement – Construction Layers (*101, 110, 111, 112, 113, 114 )
  • Monitoring Reinstatement Hot and Cold Lay Bituminous Materials (*101, 110, 114)
  • Monitoring Reinstatement of Concrete Slabs (*101, 110, 115)
  • Monitoring Reinstatement of Modular Surfaces and Concrete Footways (*101, 110, 116)

Course requirements

All those wishing to take this course will need to hold a full Street Works qualification in line with legislation as either a Supervisor or an Operative. All candidates wishing to undertake this course will need to have full PPE.

Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) certificates (one per unit successfully completed)
