Training

SWH Maintenance Training was awarded National Skills Academy for Construction status in September 2013 which has recently been renewed until 2019. We are one of the highest performing National Skills Academies within the UK and offer an extensive range of training courses in specialist construction and engineering.

Established in 2004, our Academy offers a wide range of specialist construction training and engineering Apprenticeship courses, often providing the first step on the employment ladder.

As part of our plan to recruit talented, local people to the construction industry, SWH Group and SWH Training has teamed up with Building Plymouth, a Plymouth City Council initiative, to open a Job Shop at the site of our Plymouth Coach Station project. Representatives from SWH Group, Building Plymouth, Plymouth Construction Training Group and Jobcentre Plus provided advice and guidance to jobseekers and career changers about opportunities in this diverse sector. Following the completion of the Coach Station, the Job Shop is now based at the Guildhall in Plymouth and manned by SWH representatives every Friday, 10am - 12pm.

SWH Training does not only cater for our own employees – we provide our services to companies across the UK. Our courses include CPCS, First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Safety, NVQs and Apprenticeships.

We offer all the support needed to keep up with the ever-changing needs of the construction and civil engineering industry and are experts in National Highway Sector scheme training. As an Investor in People, we understand the importance of retaining talented and knowledgeable people that perform to the highest standards. We can assist your workforce in remaining motivated, competent and certified.
