SWH Balfour Beatty Joint Venture

SWH works in a joint venture with Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services (SWH-BBIS) as the Design, Build, Finance and Operate (DBFO) Contractor for Connect Roads for the maintenance of highways and associated works for the A30 and A35 Trunk Road from Exeter to Poole.

The SWH-BBIS joint venture was appointed as the operations and maintenance contractor for this stretch of trunk road in 1996. In 2006, the joint venture was re-appointed to deliver a contract with enhanced service delivery management responsibilities.

The joint venture has continued to build a strong relationship with Connect Roads and Highways England, demonstrating added value and cost efficiency in our core activities of 24/7 emergency response, winter and routine maintenance and the delivery of significant life-cycle works including resurfacing over 400,000m2 of the trunk road. We have recently secured a 10 year extension until 2026.

Our team remains committed to the successful and proactive delivery of reactive and planned maintenance required, operating to the highest standards on every works order.

“The extension of our existing contract to 2026 is a clear testament to the hard work and commitment of our twenty strong site team over the past years. We look forward to continuing to provide further value to Connect Roads, Highways England and the 25,000 road-users who use this section of the route every day.”
