SWH begins work as new road maintenance contractor for Plymouth

Plymouth’s road maintenance services have now transferred to SWH.
SWH is carrying out all day-to-day construction and maintenance works on the highway and will manage the winter roads service (which runs from the beginning of October to the end of March).

SWH Group is delighted to have been shortlisted for the Apprenticeship Development category at the Plymouth Herald Business Awards 2017.
The shortlist, announced yesterday, lists SWH Group alongside several prominent and prestigious organisations within the area.
Anna Cooper, Project Skills Co-ordinator said: “It is very exciting to be nominated for an award in such a competitive category. As a company we work hard to champion and develop construction apprentices and it is an honour to have been recognised.”
The awards ceremony takes place at Plymouth Pavilions on 20th April, where the winner will be announced.
Health & safety reporting results in £916 donation to Devon Air Ambulance Trust

SWH has donated a record £916 to Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) following its annual campaign to improve health and safety across the business.
SWH has pledged to donate £1 for every Safety, Health, Environment or Quality (SHEQ) event (otherwise known as ‘near misses’) reported by employees. SWH recognises the link between the number of SHEQ events reported and a reduction in health and safety incidents and issues monthly updates to employees and reminders to continue to report events throughout the year.

SWH Civils’ project to construct Plymouth Coach Station’s new car park has won the prestigious Devon & Cornwall Concrete Society’s ‘Civil and Structural Concrete’ award.
SWH Civils was appointed as the principal contractor under a design and build contract by Plymouth City Council to construct Plymouth’s Coach Station. A new car park facility was also required as part of the project.

One of SWH’s objectives as a National Skills Academy for Construction (NSAfC) is to provide Taster Days for under-represented groups. This month, we offered a Taster Day to The Royal Marines Charity in Lympstone.

South West Highways Ltd signs new highway maintenance contract

South West Highways Ltd has signed a new road maintenance contract with Plymouth City Council.
SWH will take over the maintenance of Plymouth’s roads from the Council’s current contractor from April 2017, with an initial term of seven years and the opportunity to extend this by up to three years.

SWH Build has been awarded the contract to carry out essential maintenance on Bournemouth’s Grade II listed Pavilion this autumn/winter.
Following a survey earlier in the year, the 1920s building,
which has an Art Deco theatre and ballroom, cafes, bars, meeting

SWH Build has started work building a new performing arts centre
at Plympton Academy, formerly known as Ridgeway School, in
Plymouth.
The new building will have two storeys to house music classrooms,
