SWH is proud to support the Devon Air Ambulance Trust
SWH were proud to present representatives from the Devon Air Ambulance Trust with a cheque for £502 last Thursday.

SWH has proudly supported the DAAT since 2008, having raised nearly £3,000 for the cause during that time. In 2011 staff voted DAAT to be SWH’s charity of choice which it has remained since. SWH and its work force of over 600 have since raised money for the local charity through fundraising days and in-house competitions.

The Trust provides emergency medical services through the provision of two helicopter air ambulances  covering the county of Devon . The helicopters are run by the Devon Air Ambulance...

SWH Build appoints Area Manager for Poole Office

SWH Build has announced the appointment of Luke Trussler as Area Manager for their Poole Office, commencing April 2013.

The growing regional office offers a local service reaching typically an hour's travelling time to Bridport, Yeovil, Salisbury and Southampton.

In harmony with the company's ethos of servicing local markets through local people, Luke is long experienced in the area, living and working there since he returned home from New Zealand in 2005. Since then he has gained considerable experience in the social housing sector.

In addition to area responsibility, Luke will strengthen SWH Build's offering to its social housing customers.

Innovative way of working for our Joint Venture

SWH works in joint venture as the Design, Build, Finance and Operate (DBFO) Contractor for Connect Roads for the maintenance of Highways and associated works for the A30 and A35 Trunk Road from Exeter to Poole.

This is a joint venture with Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services.

A section of the A35, totalling 8.5 miles, required routine and general maintenance. SWH suggested an innovative and completely new idea to the Highways Agency; to close 8.5miles of road for a 36 hour period and complete the necessary routine maintenance in one go. SWH retains prestigious award
Investor In People award is renewed after thorough testing

South West Highways is pleased to announce it has retained recognition of its Investor In People status.

After a thorough review by an IIP officer, SWH has been congratulated on its many successes and is continuing to meet IIP standard. Human Resources Manager Lesley Code comments: "We are delighted to retain our IIP status, we work hard to create a safe and structured environment for our 600 employees. South West Highways is committed to best practice and our retained IIP status supports this."

South West Highways has held this accreditation since 2004.

Annual Business Guide 2011 highlights SWH as top local employer

On 7 July The Western Morning News published its Annual Business Guide 2011, including its list of the top 150 South West buisnesses.

SWH was placed 23rd, the highest ranking in the construction sector thanks to our high regional employment rate. SWH employs more than twice as many people than any other construction business on the list.
