SWH Civils shortlisted for prestigious civil engineering awards

Two civil engineering projects, on which SWH Civils acted as Principle Contractor, have been shortlisted for prestigious awards by the South West arm of the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE). SWH were also significantly involved in a third nominated scheme.

The awards were established by the ICE to showcase the breadth of work completed throughout the South West each year. SWH Civils’ shortlisted projects are the construction of a helipad and the refurbishment and repurposing of a disused rail bridge.

SWH Civils announced as contractor for Plymouth Coach Station

We are delighted to announce that Plymouth County Council has named SWH Civils as the preferred contractor to build a new coach station in Plymouth’s West End, following a competitive tendering process.

The works will see the existing, outdated coach station replaced with a modern facility that includes seven coach stands for National Express and Megabus routes, real-time passenger information systems, blue badge drop-off bays, customer help points, ticket machines, toilets, cycle stands, CCTV and ornamental lighting.

SWH & Balfour Beatty joint venture awarded £40m Highways contract extension

An SWH joint venture with Balfour Beatty (SWHBBIS) has been awarded a £40 million ten-year extension to its existing contract to deliver operations and maintenance (O&M) activities on the 102 km A30/A35 Exeter to Bere Regis trunk road on behalf of Connect Roads, for ultimate customer Highways England.

The SWHBBIS joint venture was appointed as the operations and maintenance contractor for this stretch of trunk road in 1996. In 2006 the joint venture was re-appointed to deliver a contract with enhanced service delivery management responsibilities.

SWH Build Complete Broadmeadow Industrial Estate

SWH Build, together with Teignbridge District Council, held an opening ceremony today to mark the completion of a £2.5million project to create employment units at Broadmeadow for new and existing businesses.
