Priorswood Primary School, Taunton, Somerset

Priorswood Primary School (Learning Environment) This north Taunton school and foundation unit for children aged two to eleven years needed new catering and dining facilities.

A large new industrial kitchen was built right in the heart of the school. A brick building was designed to match the adjoining buildings.

SWH Build always offers a positive contribution and suggested all ventilation equipment be positioned on the roof to maximise floor space. The change was adopted and helped resolve the complexities of the mechanical and electrical installations.

Cornwall Council - Launceston College

Launceston College (Learning Environment) SWH Build refurbished the specialist Technology College's kitchen, dining room, hallway and toilets. We stripped out some existing facilities and formed new masonry and stud walls.

Works included suspended ceilings and floor coverings. All decoration and mechanical and electrical works for the College were also carried out by SWH Build.

The works were undertaken during term time, so phasing was essential, with SWH Build managing to ensure minimal noise and inconvenience to the staff and pupils.

Brynsworthy Recycling Centre

Brynsworthy Recycling Centre (Commercial Premises) This £4.1 million scheme, for North Devon District Council, involved the conversion and extension of a former meat processing plant to allow for the relocation of the council works unit.

Work also included installing solar panels and construction of a remote office and base for a weighstation.

The Contract included the following elements:

  • Internal strip out of the former factory and offices
  • Complete re-roofing of the existing building
  • Refurbishment of the upper ground floor to provide 3700m2 of air conditioned office space with associated toilet areas and platform lift
