SWH Build has been awarded the contract to carry out essential maintenance on Bournemouth’s Grade II listed Pavilion this autumn/winter.
Following a survey earlier in the year, the 1920s building,
which has an Art Deco theatre and ballroom, cafes, bars, meeting
rooms and performance studios, was found to need essential
maintenance works. This will include stonework repairs and
cleaning, repairs and relining of gutters, repairs to soffits and
fascias and redecoration of windows and doors to the southern end
of the building.

Minehead Railway Station was opened in 1874, linking the town to Taunton and beyond. It is the seaside terminus of Britain's longest heritage railway.
The site was on the edge of the town centre, the location of the market and works connected with the West Somerset Railway – a new information centre and coffee shop, and a steam engine turntable; hand powered and the first of its kind installed in the country for several decades.

The existing Tourist Information Centre (TIC) will be moving into the historic building this summer – and changing its name to become Taunton Visitor Centre.
The centre will share the venue with new restaurant Wildwood and the aim is to have the doors open, ready to welcome visitors by mid-July this year, in time for the Taunton Live festival.

After battling the seaside elements through the winter months, SWH is pleased to report that Phase 1 of roof and mansard replacement to the Bournemouth Premier Inn/Hinton Road Car Park is almost complete. The building has benefited from a new mansard construction and clad along with new roof overlay, finished with large uprated rooflights. Phase 2 works to the rear elevation on Hinton Road commenced ahead of schedule in February and consists of extensive repairs to art-deco Faience block work. Works will run until June of this year.

The project seeks to deliver an expanded Transfer Bulking Station facility which will enable the Council to collect additional waste and cardboard generated by up to 12,000 new homes. We have continued to work extensively across Devon, Somerset and Dorset, with the works being managed from our Rockbeare and Poole offices. The size of our team increased during the year, with a number of key appointments, who have not only contributed to this year’s success but will be instrumental in our further development into 2015 and beyond.

Last month Nick Ford and his team at the Broadmeadow Employment Unit site, Teignmouth kindly took the time to show around 15 students from Teignmouth College.
The students, who are currently studying for a BTEC in Construction, where given a tour led by Nick, Site Manager. The visit included a site induction, an introduction to all site personnel and their roles, an understanding of plans, construction type, followed by a Q&A Session.
