SWH Build project shortlisted for prestigious award
SWH Build’s COACH Taunton project has been shortlisted for the ‘Leisure & Hospitality Project of the Year’ category in the Michelmores Property Awards 2017. The awards celebrate outstanding property and construction projects in Bristol, Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Cornwall, across ten categories.
COACH, or the Centre for Outdoor Activity and Community Hub, is the exciting result of a vision to provide access for youth, sport, education and community in the heart of Taunton. SWH Build was the principal contractor on this scheme which called for the construction of an iconic, functional and sustainable building. The facility has a café with outdoor seating, canoeing and cycling facilities, boat and equipment store, meeting spaces and other social events.
The activity centre acts as a hub for users of all ages. It is a community supported facility that encourages the values of activity, community and education, sympathetically designed to blend into the landscape.
Of the shortlist, Emma Honey, Head of Property at Michelmores, said:
"Yet again we have received an extremely high quality of entries, spread across many sectors. This year's shortlist shows the South West property and construction industry as a real powerhouse of innovation, and is a signal of exciting times ahead."
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 15 June at the Great Hall, University of Exeter.
