Announcement of Works Forde Road Depot

SWH Build is pleased to announce that works on Forde Road Depot, Newton Abbott, is due to commence in January 2015.

The project seeks to deliver an expanded Transfer Bulking Station facility which will enable the Council to collect additional waste and cardboard generated by up to 12,000 new homes. Teignbridge District Council’s Local Plan has identified this figure and therefore it is essential that a larger facility is created to cope with this potential increase.

The proposal will seek to deliver an improved Depot site at Forde Road to accommodate additional refuse vehicles and waste collections units. This will require some of the existing workshop buildings to be demolished and other buildings to be used as storage. It will also require some of its existing functions to be maintained, i.e. workshops, fuel storage etc.

SWH Build, a division of South West Highways Ltd, is in close contact with Teignbridge District Council to ensure the works cause minimal disruption to the surrounding area during busy periods.

This project is design and build and the contract value is £1.8million.
